The Exploding the Myth of series (24pp A5) were written at the request of attendees at public talks given by Robert Anderson; the talks themselves coming about by public demand. People wanted information in simple form that they could pass among family and friends.

Exploding the Myth of Genetic Engineering - (ISBN 0-4-73-08434-1. pub 2002)

In 1998, proposals for using genetic engineering technology aroused consumer concern. They wanted information about what affects it would have on their well-being and on New Zealand. As a retired lecturer and a Trustee of the then Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Technology - now Physicians and Scientists for Global Responsibility (www.psgr.org.nz) - Robert Anderson spoke at public meetings throughout the country. Exploding the Myth of Genetic Engineering answers the questions the public asked.

Exploding the Myth of Irradiated Foods - (ISBN 0-473-08505-4, pub 2002)

The question of fresh foods being irradiated came to the fore in the early years of the 21st century. While foods that are irradiated have to be labelled their safety remains questionable for many scientists and medical professionals, and the public. Exploding the Myth of Irradiated Foods answers the most common questions asked by the public.

Exploding the Myth of Electro Magnetic Radiation - (ISBN 0-473-08505-4, pub 2002)

Professor Neil Cherry (d 2003) of Christchurch was world-renowned for his expertise on how dangerous are cell phones, power lines, microwave ovens and the host of electromagnetic devices that have become an integral part of human life. In dedicating Exploding the Myth of Electro Magnetic to Dr Cherry, Robert Anderson outlines the findings of the many scientists who ask that the precautionary principle be applied and for more attention to be paid to safety, and why.

Exploding the Myth of Vaccination written by Dr Michael Godfrey and Robert Anderson PhD - (ISBN 0-473-08673-5, pub 2002)

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate is a question asked by many parents. Their decision is made harder by conflicting evidence, much of it misleading. Exploding the Myth of Vaccination provides some of facts coming to light on the issue and asks has vaccination improved human health.

Exploding the Myth of Fluoridation and Amalgam written by Dr Michael Godfrey and Robert Anderson PhD - (ISBN 0-476-00223-0, pub 2003)

Exploding the Myth of Cheap Oil, remaking our lives after Peak Oil - (ISBN 0-473-10917-4, pub 2006)

Substantial oil discoveries peaked in the 1960s. ‘Peak Oil’ is the end of cheap oil and the decline of world oil supplies. This peak in oil supplies is said to have occurred around the turn of the century. It has been shown mathematically that even if Earth’s entire sphere were full of oil there would only be enough for about three centuries at the current rate of usage. Usage continues to grow annually and the mathematics of growth show usage numbers become astronomically large in modest periods of time. Exploding the Myth of Cheap Oil, remaking our lives after Peak Oil looks at the problem and some ways in which it may be overcome.

Exploding the Myth of Nanotechnology - (ISBN 978-0-473-12424-3, pub 2007)

Nanotechnology refers to techniques used to engineer structures, materials and systems that operate at a scale of 100 nano-metres (nm) or less, a size that is invisible to the naked eye. One nm is one billionth of a metre, a human hair about 80,000 nm. Developments in this new technology operate largely in a regulatory vacuum and safety testing is not compulsory. Exploding the Myth of Nanotechnology looks at the results of studies and asks are there potential risks and/or benefits to this new technology?
